__Q. What is this site? __ This is a place where people interested in translation using a massively collaborative wiki paradigm can exchange best practices and tools, and discuss how to improve them. The wiki is also being used as a testing ground for a project called the ((Cross Lingual Wiki Engine Project)). (Basically, a few of us are hacking the TikiWiki software that powers the site.) If you look around, you should see translation features that are continuously evolving. __Q. Who is here?__ We have gathered a number of ((People)) who are interested in wiki-inspired translation. __Q. What's on this site? __ First off, this site has a __wiki__ -- you're reading one of its pages right now. It also has a __[http://www.wiki-translation.com/tiki-view_forum.php?forumId=2|discussion forum]__. Finally, we're also hanging out on a __[http://www.skype.com/go/joinpublicchat?chat&skypename=marclaporte.com&topic=Wiki-translation.com&blob=3zJIb9xBeB8sCAs2PP2Zi8mZx6v5aD_EZVEgyYaOrHVm5L61v46pR8gfvUXOmyB6rMByHGTK0TQ|skype public chat]__ - feel free to drop in! If you should get lost at any point, the side menu has the basic links to help you get back somewhere familiar. __Q. What are the different ways to participate in this community?__ You can contribute in many ways: * __Comment on pages__: At the bottom of every wiki page is a form that allows you to post comments. * __Edit pages__: At the bottom of every wiki page is an __edit__ link. Click on that link and you can modify the content of the page. * __Create new pages__: Edit a page and add a link to a new topic on it. Then save and click the link you just made. * __Post to the Wiki-translation discussion forum__: If you have something to say and want most of the community to hear it, you can post a message on the [http://www.wiki-translation.com/tiki-view_forum.php?forumId=2|Wiki-translation discussion forum]. Most of the members of the community receive notification whenever a new message is posted there. The forum is also a good place to ask questions on how to use the site. You don't need to be a registered user to contribute, but we encourage you to register. __Q. Can anyone edit this site?__ Yes, but please see our ((Editing policy)). __Q. How can I keep up with what's happening?__ There are many ways to do this. # __View the recent changes to the wiki.__ Whenever you visit the site, you should be able to click on the __Last Changes__ link (in the sidebar) to find out which pages have changed recently. You may also use [http://doc.tikiwiki.org/RSS|RSS] to see recent changes. # __Track pages via email.__ Once you are logged in, you can decide to track changes to specific pages. Just click the eye icon at the top of the page. This will send you an email whenever that page changes. (If the eye icon is crossed by a red bar, it means you are already tracking that page.) # __Track the discussion forum via email.__ You can also track activity on the [http://www.wiki-translation.com/tiki-view_forum.php?forumId=2|forum]. Again, you do this by clicking on the eye icon. The discussion forum is often used to advertise new topics created by people, or to broadcast messages that are of general interest to the whole community. # __Use Web feeds.__ We have feeds for the wiki, the forum, and the calendar. Look for the {img src=http://wiki-translation.com/pics/icons/feed.png} RSS icons at the bottom of any page.
