Translation memory format

Hi, what is the status about translation memory format?

For those who don't know yet, a translation memory is a file that keeps in couples the groups of words you have already translated.

It is very useful for repetitive text, you just have to click "yes" instead of rewriting the same thing all the time (for example "Article n°"), and it is less useful for text with a content to be re-understood each time by the translator.

For TW, it seems that an open-source format would be the solution.

I don't know yet. I suppose we should take time to list all our needs, and see which formats meet those needs.

TMX seems to be the industry standard:

TMX (Translation Memory eXchange) is an exchange standard that ensures the content can be exchanged by software compliant to it.

Most TM tools however, do not save directly in TMX, but rather have an export/import function that can handle TMX.
